Lucknow: The state govern- ment on Friday joined hands with Garena, the Singapore- based global games company, to promote e-sports, a dedica- ted policy framework for which was launched in March this year. It also took on board Yotta Data Services, which offers di- gital amenities like data cent- re, cloud and cybersecurity services through its massive data centre based at Noida. The partnership will now help UP hold and host interna- tional e-sports events and tour- naments which will also serve as a platform for showcasing Indian e-sports talent across the globe. The MoU was signed in the presence of Girish Chandra Yadav, UP's sports minister and high commissioner of Singapore to India Simon. Wong. Additional chief secretary, sports, Navneet Sehgal, Sea Li- mited (Garena) co-founder and chief operating officer Ye Gang, co-founder and CEO Yot- ta Sunil Gupta were also pre- sent on the occasion. High commissioner Simon Wong said: "This collabora- tion is testimony to the thri- ving technological synergy between our countries, and with Uttar Pradesh especial- ly." COO Garena Ye Gang said: "Uttar Pradesh's progressive e-sports policy was a key rea- son behind our partnership with the state government. We look forward to contributing to the development of the e- sports community as well as the data centre industry in In- dia, in partnership with Yotta- ."Sehgal said: "e-sports is the future and we are excited that a global brand like Garena has chosen UP to host tourna- ments." "We recently organised Khelo India University Ga- mes, Asian Youth Handball Championship, Commonwe- alth Weightlifting Champions- hips, ITF Men's $25k and are now getting ready to host the Davis Cup and MotoGP in Sep- tember," Sehgal added.
